services, from battery replacement and sealing to
complete restoration and service.
We can repair quartz, mechanical, wind up, automatic
watches.

showroom, please send your watch through the post and
we will send it back to you with the registered and insured
delivery.
To last a lifetime, a luxury Swiss timepiece needs to be serviced every 3 years.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
We are always using SWISS made batteries. For the waterproof watches we are always pressure test after battery has been replaced. Batteries can often be replaced while you wait.
CASE POLISHING AND VALETING/
REFURBISHMENT
We have very sophisticated polishing and lapping equipment. Engraving and deep nicks can be filled prior to polishing using our laser machine. Finished watches look like they are new again.
WATCH GLASS REPLACEMENT
If the glass is broken, scratched or damaged, we can offer a glass replacement service. If a crystal sapphire glass is not badly damaged, we would polish it with a special diamond paste to achieve the new look.

WATCH MOVEMENT REPAIR
Our experienced watchmakers will investigate your watch movement, diagnose the problems and will give you advice for the best solutions. Sometimes a movement is beyond repair and might require an entire replacement, which the experts like us are able to do it.

WATCH DIAMOND SETTING
At David Luton Jewellers we can offer the highest quality diamond setting for your watch. We can offer G-H VVS, VS, SI diamonds. We are proud of our experienced diamond setters, who does the job immaculate. Please contact us for a quote as the price varies from job to job.
ENGRAVING
Personalising a watch with an engraving will add sentimental value to the watch. A beautiful timepiece with the special message on the back makes for a memorable gift that can turn into a family heirloom. We offer laser and hand engraving services. SERVICING MECHANICAL

Check the case and the bracelet strap.

Detach the bracelet, open the case and remove the stem, crown, seals and movement.

Reset the stem and crown, and check the winding mechanism.

Examine the working of the hands, calendar functions and rotor (if fitted).

Inspect and adjust the escapement.
-
Fully disassemble the watch case and inspect the movement and component parts.
-
Replace any worn or damaged parts.
-
Clean all parts in specialist chemical baths using the latest automated cleaning machines.
-
Reassemble the movement, checking and making fine adjustments in line with brand specifications.
-
Lubricate the movement if using 4/5 fine oils and greases and double check the escapement.

De-magnetise, regulate and check the timing of the movement to brand standards using specialist Swiss timing equipment.

Refit the dial and hands, and clean the case and bracelet using ultrasound technology.

Replace case seals where necessary and restore the movement to the case.

Double check time keeping, and adjust where required using timing equipment.
Once we have completed these steps, we test the watch on a wrist simulator to make sure the automatic winding system is running smoothly. The watch's power reserve is then tested statically for 24 hours, dial down, and the rate checked, until the power has run down in the dial up position.
This final inspection before we return your watch is critical - it's then guaranteed for 12 months, depending on the brand.

Carefully clean all the mechanical parts in special chemical baths, using automated cleaning machines.

Reassemble the movement, checking it, and making fine adjustments in line with brand specifications.

Lubricate the setting and calendar mechanisms, using fine oils and greases.
-
Make sure the timing of the movement is in working order, using specialist Swiss electronic testing equipment.

Refit the dial and hands, and clean the case and bracelet using ultrasound technology.

Renew the case seals where necessary, and restore the movement to the case.

Check the watch's water-resistance according to brand specification.
-
Check the correct functioning of the hands and calendar mechanism if fitted. To ensure the watch is functioning accurately, we then test it statically for two days.
Once we have completed these steps, we test the watch on a wrist simulator to make sure the automatic winding system is running smoothly. The watch's power reserve is then tested statically for 24 hours, dial down, and the rate checked, until the power has run down in the dial up position.
This final inspection before we return your watch is critical - it's then guaranteed for 12 months, depending on the brand.
